Dianne and Jeff Dyer moved to Lopez about 20 years ago, eventually building a passive solar home to raise their family. Prior to coming to Lopez, Jeff lived in Guatemala and Belize working small sailing vessels for fishing and cargo. After making Lopez Island his "home port", Jeff embarked on a career at sea that gave him two lives: one life that navigated oceans to mingle briefly and deeply in many cultures and another life on Lopez of family, friends and community. Jeff embraces all cultures as they relate to family and community as these values were felt closest to his heart when away at sea. Jeff has always been impressed by the LCLT as a way to keep community alive and growing. He believes that providing models in sustainability and renewable energy for this community as well as others is what he would like to see the LCLT continue to succeed in.
