Priscilla’s Inspired Gift to Lopez Island
Introducting our new farm

Priscilla was born on December 20, 1936. This year she will celebrate her 90th birthday.
Priscilla grew up on a 40-acre farm in Southern California. She always felt like a farm girl, but life intervened, and she found herself living most of her full life off the farm – raising children, helping the family business succeed, traveling, and leading an abundant social life. She likes to say, “You can take the girl from the farm, but you can’t take the farm from the girl.”
When she was nine years old, her father gave her a calf. The calf was just a few days old, and Priscilla dedicated herself to raising a beautifully healthy cow who eventually won Grand Champion at the 4-H fair. She milked the cow every morning and afternoon until her high school graduation. The picture above was published in the Los Angeles newspaper.
In 2017, Priscilla was inspired by LCLT’s farmland efforts. In 2024, when LCLT purchased the land at Barn Owl Bakery, Priscilla made the very first contribution, helping to ensure our success.
Now in her 90th year, she has gifted the Land Trust with a contribution to purchase a 40-acre farm at 5625 Fisherman Bay Road, aka North Star Farm.
In honor of this gift and Priscilla’s love of farmland, the Land Trust is renaming the 40 acres to Legacy Farm.
We feel immense gratitude to Priscilla for her vision, dedication, frugal living, and hard work that left her in a position to make this gift of land possible. An inspiration to all.
We have been able to extend our sincere heartfelt gratitude directly to Priscilla. If you are moved to do the same, please send your message to lclt25@rockisland.com and we will be sure to forward your words on to Priscilla.
Stay tuned for further updates.
