LCLT’s 7th housing cooperative broke ground in April 2024 and was completed in June of 2025. The six homes were designed by Vandervort Architects, 3 homes are 1-bedroom, 718-square-foot, single-story homes, and 3 are 2-bedroom, 1,163-square-foot, two-story homes. Residents include seven children, a special education teacher, a public-school nurse, two local business owners, a physical therapist, a massage therapist, and a non-profit director.

Once again, the six households participated in the building process, contributing over 5,000 hours of sweat equity. Residents worked alongside professional carpenters, LCLT construction interns, dedicated building partners, and many volunteers. Funding for this project was sourced through the San Juan County Home Fund, a mortgage with the Washington State Housing Finance Commission, and generous support from community members.

The homes are built to high environmental standards, with “super tight” air sealing characteristics, whole-house ventilation combined with passive air inlets, high-efficiency windows, heat pump indoor heating and cooling, and reverse board and batten siding from locally milled Douglas fir trees from the site.

In May 2025, LCLT hosted an open house for the Lopez community to visit the homes just before completion. Over 250 people came to tour the site, meet the residents, and celebrate permanently affordable housing.
